CHICAGO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Boeing Company reported on Wednesday strong financial and operational performance in 2017 thanks to record deliveries of airplanes.

Boeing's 2017 revenue stood at 93.4 billion U.S. dollars, reflecting a record 763 commercial deliveries.

Although the annual revenue shrank 1 percent when compared to 2016, the earnings from operations increased 76 percent, with net earnings rising 67 percent to almost 8.2 billion U.S. dollars.

Its earnings per share also increased 76 percent annually.

As of 1715 GMT, Boeing's share has gained 5.15 percent to 355.19 U.S. dollars, following the release of its 2017 financial report.

"Across Boeing our teams delivered a record year of financial and operational performance as they focused on disciplined execution of production and development programs, growing services, and delivering value to customers," said Boeing Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Muilenburg.

In 2017, he added, Boeing delivered the first 737 MAX airplanes, launched the 737 MAX 10 and completed the 787-10 first flight, while delivering more commercial airplanes than ever before.

As for its 2018 financial outlook, Boeing has set a target revenue at 96-98 billion U.S. dollars, with a total delivery of 810-815 commercial airplanes.
