Trump lands in Britain for state visit amid protests

U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in London on Tuesday evening for his second state visit to Britain, aiming to secure new trade and security agreements despite ongoing protests.

According to Buckingham Palace, King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer will welcome Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. On Thursday, Trump and Starmer are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting at Chequers, the prime minister's country residence.

Nearly 100 residents from Windsor and other parts of Britain, organized by the "Stop Trump Coalition" group, gathered along the streets outside Windsor Castle on Tuesday evening, chanting slogans against the visit and waving placards reading "Stop Hate, Stop Trump" and "Hate Never Made Any Nation Great." Organizers said they plan to hold a larger demonstration in central London on Wednesday.

Putin says 100,000 troops participate in Russia-Belarus military drills

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that 100,000 troops are participating in the Russia-Belarus joint military drills, known as Zapad-2025.

"The event is being held at 41 training grounds, involving 100,000 servicemen and about 10,000 weapon and equipment systems," Putin said when visiting the Mulino training ground in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region.

Among the equipment, there are 333 aircraft and more than 247 vessels, he noted.

The exercises aim to "practice all the necessary elements for the unconditional defense of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the protection of the Union State against any aggression," Putin added.

Israeli military says Gaza City offensive will take "months"

Israeli military spokesman Effie Defrin said on Tuesday the ground offensive in Gaza City would take "months," after the assault began overnight and forced thousands more Palestinians to flee the enclave's largest urban center.

"We are not constrained by time," Defrin told reporters.

He said Israeli forces were in control of "widespread" areas of Gaza City after the operation was launched overnight, following weeks of bombardments on the city's neighborhoods of Jabalia, Zeitoun and Sheikh Radwan.

According to figures and aerial images previously released by the Palestinian Civil Defense, much of Zeitoun has been flattened since the beginning of the operation in August, with more than 1,500 homes destroyed and no buildings left standing in the southern part of the neighborhood.

Defrin said it would take several months to seize Gaza City "and several more months, perhaps longer, to clear the city, because (Hamas) infrastructure is deep-rooted and entrenched."

"We will operate as long as required," he added.

He also said the military had "sufficient munitions," a day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Israel was sliding into isolation and would need to strengthen its weapons industry and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers. Several Western countries have declared full or partial arms embargoes on Israel due to the Gaza onslaught.

Yemen's Houthis claim attacks at Israel's Tel Aviv, airport

Yemen's Houthi group said in a statement on Tuesday that it launched attacks at Tel Aviv and the Ramon Airport in Eilat after Israel conducted airstrikes on the group-held port city of Hodeidah earlier in the day.

Yahya Sarea, the Houthi military spokesman, said a ballistic missile targeted a "sensitive site" in southern Tel Aviv, and a drone targeted the Ramon Airport in Eilat.

He said in the statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV that the attacks were in response to the "Israeli military escalation" in Gaza, and to the "Israeli aggression" on Yemen.

Pakistan warns of severe dengue outbreak risk amid floods, rains

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday warned of an exceptionally high risk of a severe dengue outbreak in the country this season, particularly between Sept. 20 and early December, due to widespread flooding and favorable weather conditions.

In its first dengue alert of the season, the department said dengue risk rises sharply when temperatures stay between 26 and 29 degrees Celsius for several weeks, relative humidity exceeds 60 percent, and rainfall surpasses 27 mm, with effects lasting up to three weeks.

This year, prolonged monsoon rains, river overflows and water releases from reservoirs have inundated large parts of eastern Punjab and southern Sindh provinces, displacing millions and leaving villages submerged. Stagnant water and poor drainage have created highly favorable conditions for mosquito breeding, the department said.

Two Chinese navy warships to open to public in Qingdao

Two warships of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy will open to the public at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center in east China's coastal city of Qingdao from Sept. 24 to 28, the PLA Navy Beihai Fleet announced on Tuesday.

The open-day event, organized by the Northern Theater Command Navy of the PLA and designed to promote the spirit forged in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, will feature tours aboard the missile destroyer Xining and the missile frigate Wuhu.
