RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Gabriel Barbosa scored late as Cruzeiro recovered from a goal down to secure a 2-1 away victory over Bahia in Brazil's Serie A on Monday.
Jean Lucas gave the hosts the lead with a dipping 30-yard drive into the top-left corner.
Colombian winger Luis Sinisterra equalized by stabbing home a first-time effort after Matheus Pereira's shot rebounded off the post.
Gabriel, a 71st-minute replacement for Kaio Jorge, put the visitors ahead four minutes from time with a 25-yard rocket into the far corner.
"It's something that I've been practicing a lot at training," Gabriel said of his goal after the match.
"We were a bit reactive in the first half but we came out in the second with the idea of having more of the ball and putting pressure on their defenders."
The result at Arena Fonte Nova leaves Cruzeiro second in the 20-team standings with 47 points from 23 outings, three points behind leaders Flamengo. Bahia is fifth in the 20-team standings, 11 points further back. ■
